MGF on YouTube |
Thanks to the brilliance that is YouTube, every hardened MGF fan can now enjoy replays of those wonderful and now nostalgic MGF and TF videos, any time any place. Here are just a few of my favourites...
Rover Group launch introductory film for the MGF, showing just some of the development process that went into bringing our favourite MG into production. Spot the cameo apparence of one Gerry McGovern, sporting Mick Hucknall style mullet...
The 1995 launch of the MGF on Top Gear, with Jeremy Clarkson giving us his appraisal of the F. Video also covers one of my favourite small Rovers - the bubble-shaped 200. We had a 214Si in that colour, and loved it to bits... but the seats were a bit pants though... I digress, sorry.
In 1998, Top Gear
gave us their appraisal of SP's supercharged MGF, the Cheetah (read more
here). A cracking little car, and
Vicki Butler-Henderson gives us her thoughts. First aired on the BBC on 19th March, 1998.
R810 LRA, where are you now? |

Who could forget the genius of Hammond crafting a limo out of an MGF? Here is the Top Gear episode in which it appears in all its glory!
Contrary to what
the title says, this is the EuroNCAP crash test for the MG Rover TF. 4 Star
occupant safety, and 2 star pedestrian safety*, putting the TF at the top of
its class.
*Being mid-engined has its benefit here - there's no engine block to head-butt through the bonnet. Top tip viewers, if you are about to be run over, jump in front of that approaching MG... |
|
And here the EuroNCAP film in full, including side impact.
The MGTF's re-launch under new Chinese ownership, complete with the nice new bumper design. This is the LE500 SE, which had plenty of rather nice optional extras!
The MGTF LE500 undergoing road tests at MIRA - looking very tidy through the corners; one expects that the test driver was having some fun!
The TF LE500 in the hands of the local TV station...
BirminghamMail - MG is back with an interview with some of the team that build the TF LE500. Shows some of the production process at Longbridge. |
